I never looked at that word in that way, so I got curious and checked. According to The Chambers Dictionary of Etymology, always at the side of my bed, "blacklisted" originally meant "edged with black" in 1457. It started to mean "ostracized" from 1884. https://t.co/TEAzdtn795
