How Zoom scaled its team

We first hired engineers, and those engineers could sell to several customers, and when that grew, we hired a sales team that was able to close more deals. Then we had a support team, and then, when we had a lot of customers, we had our customer success team. And even though at some point we had many engineers and sales, we had only one full-time person running finance. There wasn’t a need to build a larger finance team at that time. We did not even have a marketing team until 2015.


This is one of the many passages I read in books and articles on a daily basis.
