Why does this company matter?

the question that Don Valentine, the founder of Sequoia, would always ask is “Why does this company matter?” That’s a superpowerful question.

The other way to ask the question, especially for early-stage investors, is “Why is your company going to be an important part of the future in ten years?”

This is one of the many passages I read in books and articles on a daily basis. They span many disciplines, including art, artificial intelligence, automation, behavioral economics, cloud computing, cognitive psychology, enterprise management, finance, leadership, marketing, neuroscience, startups, and venture capital.
